Field Day 2010 Preparations
Once again, Field Day is rapidly approaching. Field Day is the ARRL’s annual premier operating event for showcasing amateur radio’s capabilities during an emergency or disaster. This year the event, which always takes place the last full weekend in June, takes place June 26 and 27. This year’s theme is “I am a ham – The world is my playground.” Operating time runs from 2:00 PM EDT Saturday until 2:00 PM EDT Sunday, with setup and tear-down immediately before and after operations. Please plan to join us and play in our global playground for a few hours.
We’re gearing up for another fun and exciting Field Day. Last year we set a record (for the club, at least) for the number of attendees, with 256 visitors, and had the most-attended event in the country. This year we’d like to beat that number. We also plan to hold another Boy Scout radio merit badge class and have a delicious barbecue dinner Saturday evening. Oh, and we’ll probably operate some radio during the 24 hours, as well. The station captains are soliciting for operators. Please respond to their requests and operate as much as you can. The station captains for 2010 are:
If you have any questions about their stations or want to volunteer to operate (or help in other ways), please contact them directly.
If you have any general questions, comments, or suggestions about Field Day, please email fieldday@nfarl.org. If you have specific concerns, questions, or comments that should be brought to my attention, or would like to join the committee (we can always use more help!) please email me directly at ak4ik@nfarl.org.

Thank you, and let’s make 2010’s event the best Field Day NFARL has ever seen!

Ian Kahn, AK4IK
