2009 Georgia QSO Party Results. W4GKZ announced at the June club meeting that NFARL had indeed won the club competition for the GA QSO Party for 2009.
Full details are available at http://gqp.contesting.com/ Chaz reported that our score was more than 5 times our next closest competitor. A "winners" gavel will presented to the club at an upcoming meeting.
Led by W6IZT and N4NX, we want to thank everyone for entering. 18 members submitted scores for this year's party. This is a record for our club. Category winners from NFARL are N4NX (GA Low Power - Mixed Mode) and W4QO (GA QRP-CW). They will receive plaques for their effort. The plaque sponsored by NFARL (GA LOW POWER-PHONE) was won by KT4ZB from Savannah. Congrats to Jere - enjoy!
If you would like to figure out what makes contesting so much fun, join the NFARL Contesting SIG. Large scores are not mandatory to have fun at contesting. Set yourself a goal in terms of hours and number of QSOs and try to better it each time. Field Day will be the next opportunity to have "contesting fun". Updated June 21 ,2009

Youth Net Friday at 5PM on 145.47. The number of youth members has grown recently and NFARL is starting a YOUTH NET at 5PM on Fridays after school. Please encourage all youth (18 or less) to participate. Remember net participants do not have to be ham operators as long as there is a control station in charge. So bring in neighbors, scouts, kids, grandkids, etc to your station to "join the net". Frances, AJ4JQ, will be the net control. Also, adult check-ins will be permitted, so support the youth net and encourage them at all stages. Posted March 19, 2009
Free Youth Memberships. In an effort to continue to increase our youth membership your executive team has decided to offer free membership to any young person under 18 years old. Please encourage any young person you know, who is interested in ham radio, to join the North Fulton Amateur Radio League. Posted March 1, 2009
