We need to be at the nature center by 6:15 AM as they will be closing the road for the race. We will be done about 10:00 AM or shortly after. We will meet in the Kingfisher parking lot by 6:15 am at the latest. Tell the person at the entrance to the parking lot that you are part of the "radio volunteer group" and they will let you in.
Please let me know your size for the free T shirt. Example Small, Medium, Large, or extra large.
For those who want to Join us for breakfast. We will be meeting at the Waffle House at the intersection of Northridge 400 and Roswell Road about 2 miles south of the Chattahoochee River. The Waffle House entrance is on Northridge Road. We normally eat between 5:30 - 6:00 AM and then head out for the Nature Center.
We will be monitoring the IBM repeater on 145.290 MHz with an input tone of 88.5 Hz until 6:15 AM and then we will be changing to 147.535 simplex for the remainder of the race event.
We will be providing Emergency Communications for the race and setting the race timers at each of the 6 mile markers using stop watches at the mile marker locations. The timers are provided by the center. If racers get injured during the race it will be our responsibility to direct the ambulance or medical support to their location.
You will need to bring your 2 meter radios with you. I have a couple of spare radios if we need them. Be sure to charge your radio batteries prior to race day. I will provide maps and instructions at 6:15AM on race day.
Please let me know if you have received a radio volunteer badge from me at a previous event. If you have please wear it at the event, if not please let Charles Turner K9CZR know so that he can make you one.
The help we give is not physically difficult, however it is much appreciated by the Nature Center .
