Field Day
Operator Signup Links
Overview
Every year on the 4th weekend in June amateur radio operators head to the great outdoors for the premiere Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) operating event – Field Day. For a 24-hour period they work in simulated emergency conditions to contact as many other amateur radio stations as possible. There are at least two primary goals for Field Day:
Here at NFARL we see Field Day as
"Field Day is a contest where you keep score and also exhibit ham radio
'emergency preparedness' to the general public"
2015 Details
Field Day 2015 falls on June 27-28 this year. We will be going back to the Waller Park Extension – already reserved!
HF Stations
We will again be running 3A (a club station on emergency power with 3 active transmitters).
Last year we tried using blocks of time dedicated to CW, Phone or digital with the swing station. It worked okay but we think we can do better. This year there will again be blocks of time but the operator will be free to choose the mode. The goal is to maximize the number of QSO's on the All Mode Station by using whatever mode or modes the operator is comfortable using.
To sign up to operate at the HF stations during Field Day, please click here and fill out the questionnaire. Station captains will contact you to discuss the schedule after they review your input.Satellite and Six Meter Stations
If you are interested in operating at the satellite and / or the VHF station, click here and fill out the questionnaire. Station captains will contact you to discuss schedule opportunities after they review your questionnaire.
GOTA Station
As always we will have a GOTA (Get On The Air) station for new hams or non-hams who would like to take a "test drive."
To sign up to operate the GOTA station, click here.BSA Merit Badge Workshop
We will again offer the ever popular Boy Scout Merit Badge worksession. The workshop is full, but if you are interested in learning more about ham radio, we hope you will drop by Field Day Saturday afternoon to see our operators at work. Also, consider signing up for a session at our GOTA station (see above).
