Fellow NFARLers,

Well, it's that time of year again.  Temperatures are warming up, flowers are blooming, pine trees are about to explode with pollen all over everything, and all hams' minds begin to turn toward Field Day.  Yes, you heard me right, Field Day.  June is just around the corner, and the 2009 Field Day Team has already been hard at work for several months, planning what promises to be our best Field Day showing yet.  This year's event takes place June 27-28, and we will set up and operate from the Waller Park Extension in Roswell again.

We're going to operate Class 3A again this year.  We'll have a CW station (captained by Mack, W4AX), a 40m phone station (captained by Joe, N7QPP, and John, K7SYS) and a 20m phone station (captained by Chuck, AE4CW and Steve, KS4KJ).  In addition, we'll have the GOTA, or Get on the Air, station (captained by Wes, W3WL) and a VHF/UHF station (captained by Sean, K4ZF).  This year we also have captains dedicated to Saturday's set-up (Dave, KU4MT) and Sunday's tear-down (Bob, KJ4IXI).  In the very near future, our captains will start asking for people to help with set-up, tear-down, and station operations.  Please help out as much as you can.  For as much work as the Field Day team has done, and continues to do, to get ready for the big event, we still need the participation of everyone in the club to make the 2009 Field Day a roaring success.

Like last year, I will provide these updates/bulletins to the club membership on a regular basis.  I will also continue to talk about Field Day at the club meetings between now and then.  If you would like to volunteer to help out on the Field Day committee, or just have questions about this year's plans/event, please contact me via email at ak4ik@nfarl.org.

Thanks and 73,

Ian, AK4IK
