2008 Field Day Results

From our President

Well, the results are out for Field Day and NFARL placed Numero Uno in the Southeast Division in Class 3A!!!

To see a preview of the article which will be in the December QST: http://www.arrl.org/contests/results/2008/fd.pdf

There we are in category 3A at 13th place nationally with 7688 points, however, where it counts - Number of Participants - NFARL is #1 nationally in 3A with 194.   Have not seen a higher number in any category yet!  Potomac Valley RC - remember them W3AO at 23A - had 60 people in attendance!

And on the Contest Results page, when you move down to Field Day and click on WEB REPORT, you get Ian's article.  It don't get much better than this!

Way to go Steve/Ian and North Fulton!  We did it.

Ok, now for 2009 ...

From Ian Kahn, AK4IK

As I looked through the 2008 Field Day results, and parsed them out in many of the ways the ARRL web site allows, I thought I'd compile everything into one convenient location.

I put together a spreadsheet with what I thought were the most pertinent categories - score, total number of participants, and total number of QSOs.  I broke the numbers out in a few ways.  I looked at how we did against other 3A scores and against all scores from all participants.  I futher broke the results down by national, division, and section rankings.

What I found was that our incredible numbers by themselves don't tell the entire tale.

The spreadsheet is posted in the Yahoo Files section under the Field Day NFARL folder; its contents are shown below.

All I can say is that these results speak to the total dedication and commitment the entire club had for making Field Day 2008 a success. Thank you to everyone and congratulations on a job well done!
